Reiherente und Schnatterente | Die Reiherente (Aythya fuligula) ist eine kleine, gesellige Tauchente (40–47 cm) mit einem markanten Federschopf am Hinterkopf und gelben Augen. Erpel sind schwarz-weiß, Weibchen dunkelbraun. Sie sind tag- und nachtaktive Taucher, die bis zu 7 Meter tief nach Muscheln, Schnecken und Pflanzen suchen. Sie brüten in dichter Ufervegetation. Der namensgebende Schopf erinnert an einen Reiher. Der Schnabel ist blaugrau mit einer schwarzen Spitze. Bevorzugt stehende oder langsam fließende Gewässer wie Seen und Teiche. Hauptsächlich Muscheln, Schnecken, Insektenlarven und Sämereien. Mai bis September. Die Nester werden oft in Kolonien im Schilf angelegt.Bestand: Nicht gefährdet, eine der häufigsten Tauchenten in Deutschland.
